Hi,

Most of the time when I startup my system, the monitor positions will be reset to the default. Only very rarely will it boot up with what I want.

Occassionally, the desktop icons get out of place as well.

How does UltraMon remember the last settings, including monitor positions?

I'm using Windows Vista Business. I use CCleaner at startup. Also, tweaked the "WaitToKillServiceTimeout" value in registry to 1500 for faster shutdown. Could any of these have caused UltraMon not to save its settings upon shutdown?

Please help. Thanks!

This is handled by Windows, UltraMon doesn't get involved with that.

As a workaround, you could set up an UltraMon display profile which gets applied after login. To do this, right-click the UltraMon icon in the system tray and select Display Profiles from the menu.

Ah, thanks for the advise.
Some follow-up questions:

If I create two profiles, say for example:

Profile 1: LaptopAlone
Profile 2: WithExtMonitor

I know I can easily toggle between the two, depending on my use.

But, how does UltraMon know which is the default (if it always chooses one when starting up)? Or will it remember my last selected profile?

Thanks!

Both display profiles would get applied. There's no built-in way to do what you want, but it would be possible to do this with a custom script.

If you have a dock, you could use the ApplyProfileAndWallpaperDockedUndocked script.
