ultramon has a lot of potential as a useful product. i was referred here through Hanselman's list of must-have tools. but i'm not sure what he was thinking ...
given the issues in the vista beta (several daily problems on my machine), the incredibly long time since any patch to that beta (how can you seriously say updates are included in the cost, when there are NO updates!), and the concerns expressed on this site regarding lack of updates and lack of communication around the product ...
i won't be buying ultramon.
perhaps it's time to sell it off to a company that can support it.

If you get frequent Smart Taskbar errors, I would recommend installing version 2.7.1 instead which won't have those issues.
The second 3.0 beta will be released later this year, if you want to get notified of the new release you could subscribe to the RSS feed here.

I run Vista 32-bit with 2.7.1 and I don't have any problems, except occasionally apps that are supposed to be hidden show up on the extended taskbar (which is a known issue and should be addressed in the next release). This isn't a major problem - restarting the app fixes the issue. I'm also running Ultramon in conjunction with Windowblinds without issue. I recommend you try out 2.7.1 before giving up on the app - it may well tide you over until the next release.
On the other hand, you may want to just protest the slow development by withholding your business. Which is fine, but I'm sure it won't make any difference to the next release date. That might be like sort of like cutting off your nose to spite your face (a strange expression - wonder where it came from).
