OK here it goes:
I installed multimon beta5 (after uninstalling beta4). I started playing with the secondary taskbar (on my 2nd monitor). I dragged it to the top on my primary monitor.
Internet Explorer was running maximized, and it properly resized to make place for the taskbar.
I dragged the bar back to my secondary monitor. But IE didn't resize back to its old size, there is a gap above the title bar!
I tried chaning the screen res to get it back to its old size. Even when I put IE on my secondary monitor there is still a gap at the top.
In fact, I have uninstalled ultramon b5, and when I open IE and maximize it, there is still a gap at the top, it's like there is an unvisible taskbar at the top of my screen.
I have already searched in the registry to find the maximized screen settings for IE, but so far I haven't found it.
I hope my problem is a bit clear to everyone. I'd be happy to provide some screenshots if it's not very clear.

This is a Windows problem: if you move a desktop toolbar to a different monitor, the workspace area on the previous monitor doesn't get resized.
You will also notice this problem with the Quick Launch toolbar and other desktop toolbars.
To fix the problem:
- maximize/restore the window several times
- move the Windows taskbar to a different position and back
- if nothing of the above helps, you'll need to log off or reboot

well, this was my first reaction.
but rebooting doesn't work.
If I move the Windows taskbar to the top of the screen, I get: the taskbar, then a small gap and then the IE window.
This is very strange.
I think there must be a registry setting for this, the only problem is finding it :)

the problem went away.
I think that was because I closed an Internet Explorer window while it was not maximized.
