I have a Matrox P-750 card and I am trying to run one CRT and one LCD HDTV in "Clone Mode" at different resolutions. Will UltraMon allow me to do this?

TIA

I have started to try to figure this out myself and am running into problems.

First, I figured out that I must go into Matrox Powerdesk and deselect Clone Mode and select Independent mode to get UltrMon to see them as two different displays.

Trying to set up mirroring in UltrMon, I highlight the HDTV and say I want to mirror the CRT (Primary),I get a very interesting but not useful pattern of descending sized desktops into infinity on the CRT.

If I select the CRT and then say I want to mirror the HDTV, I get an error message: "Failed to set up target monitors. Restarting should fix this problem. If you have already restarted, check mirror settings.

Where am I going wrong? Is there some documentation somewhere that outlines the procedure?

TIA

i get an error message: "

Hi Christian-

Thanks so much for the reply.
I finally got it to work, although I am not sure I have it going at its full potential.
I got it going by disabling Matrox Power Desk in the System Configuration Utility.

I am a professional photographer and need to get the best possible picture on the HDTV as I am going to use it to show
proofs to my customers. The HDTVs native resolution is 1366x768 but I have it set to mirror at 1024x768, so that things are proportional to
the primary CRT at 1600x1200. I think I saw somewhere something about proportioning in UltraMon. Would it be better to set the mirroring at
1366x768 and using this proportional mode in UltraMon? If so where did I see that?

Any other tips for getting the absolute best performance?
I am not needing to do any special usage of one application on one monitor, another on the other one, etc. I just want my customer to see the same thing I am (the two are back to back.)

I have sent the report via email and you will see from it that I have a second ATI card with a small LCD attached that I use only for Photoshop palettes. So far, that is working fine.

I am looking forward to using your software, and it will be a bargain if it can do just what I want.

TIA,

Charles

Mirroring currently doesn't support keeping the original aspect ratio, the image will always be stretched to fill the monitor. Support for this will be considered for UltraMon 3.

You could disable high-quality downscaling under mirroring options for better performance, but the loss in image quality probably won't be worth it.

So Christian, what does this mean exactly. In other words, if my main monitor is 1280 x 720, and i want to mirror on a different display that is not 1280x720, say one that has a mx resolution of 1024 x 768, how does the software handle this?

Sorry for the question if it is obvious....

The image on the mirror monitor will be stretched to fill the monitor.

If the monitors have different aspect ratios, for example one is a regular 4:3 monitor, the other 16:9 widescreen, the image on the mirror monitor will be distorted.
