Is there any way to change the font colors appearing on the ultramon taskbar for apps? The windows default one is white letters on black background, and the ultramon does black text making it difficult to read.

Unfortunately that's not possible, but this issue should be fixed once support for Vista is added.

Currently Vista compatibility is planned for UltraMon 3.0 Beta 1.

How long till you release the 3.0 beta 1?
Christian Studer   2006-05-30 07:35
I don't have a release date for the first beta yet.

Well i'm happy i don't use mirroring or the extra window title bar buttons. If you do not like the black text on the dark Vista Areo or the Vista Basic Taskbars. Switch to Windows Classic theme.

that's not the solution I'm looking for. Windows Vista is going to RC1 next week. Can we expect the ultrmon 3 beta by then?

Beta 1 should be ready in time for Vista's public release, which is expected for early Q1 2007.

You could just as easily disable visual themes on the "UltraMonTaskbar.exe" to make that taskbar appear like the classic theme without having to bag all of aero and glass.
Browse to the UltraMon installation folder and right click on the UltraMonTaskbar.exe file, switch to the compatibility tab and check the "Disable visual themes" under the Settings section. Close the taskbar and restart it and you're all set. I'd make it autohide too, just so it doesn't interfere with Vista's beauty. ;)

When will Ultramon version 3 beta be available for public download / evaluation? i am a current 2.6 user and it won't load in Vista RC1 what i loaded this weekend.

Try installing UltraMon without the mirroring feature (can be deselected on the Customize Installation screen), this should fix the problem.
