I have Dual 21's, AIW Radeon, 1.33Athlon, 256mb of ram... How important is the 2nd card to keep performance up? Basically an 8mb 2nd card would give me 32bit color, 1600x1200 @ 85hz
I was at CompUSA and they had a cheap 16mb I/O Magic Vanta card for $50...
My other choices would be a Voodoo 3000 or 4500 if I could find either under 70 bucks
What I'm asking is this: In the real world, I would never buy the I/O Magic card over a Voodoo card for a primary but does it actually matter for a secondary vid card???
Thanx for your input, riz

it depends on what you plan on doing with your secondary monitor.if you're going to be running apps and or games that require some horsepower from your vid card on your secondary monitor then you're going to need a decent card same as you would for anything you run on your primary display...however if you just want some more desktop real estate to display extra browser windows or text docs you need to refer too while working on your primary display etc than just about anything that works in your system and meets your requirements will do...i did try a 16 meg vanta PCI as a secondary card btw..for the price the card is an excellent value!in benchmarks the performance was just slightly slower than my primary V3 2000 agp card[and i do mean slightly,i doubt the difference would have been noticeable in use]and it's 3d output looks better too!it did have some compatibility probs when used in a mutli monitor system tho..the card worked fine but the system always hung when shutdown,i've read messages from others using nvidia based cards as secondaries having this prob as well,it seems to be a hardware conflict of some sort, as far as i know there is no way around it,i eventually swapped the vanta card out for an old banshee card to fix it in my system, alltho you might not have any probs, and if you don't it's a decent card and a good value
