I am able to successfully install and configure Ultramon and it works great across both of my monitors. However, when I reboot I get the following message:
* The currently selected graphics driver cannot be used. It was written for a previous version of Windows and is no longer compatiable with this version of Windows. The system has started using the default VGA monitor.
And start with the default VGA driver it does (yeech!) Does anyone know a workaround for this problem?
I am using Windows XP with ASUS Extreme AX550 video card (ATI).

Please try if installing the latest drivers for your video card fixes the problem, you can get the 5.11 Catalyst drivers from ATI.

I installed the 5.11 Catalyst drivers as you suggested and I still get the same problem. I can run and use Ultramon (which I think is just great), but when I reboot it is back to 640x480 with 16 colors.

Maybe it's a compatibility issue with UltraMon's mirroring feature, please try if uninstalling mirroring fixes the problem.
To do this, go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, select UltraMon from the list, click on Change, then deselect the mirroring feature on the Customize Installation page of the setup.
I'm not sure if this is really the problem though, on my ATI system with a Radeon X600 and the 5.11 drivers I have no problems with UltraMon's mirroring feature.

I have the ASUS Extreme AX550 and it did the same thing on my system. I did disable the mirroring feature as suggested and now it works great!

Hi,
I have same problem as "Ray", word for word.
My System: * 24" DELL LCD PANEL - 4 PC * AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ * ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Mother Board * 4GB PC 3200 DDR400 Dual Channel * ASUS EN7800 GTX - 2 PC * 400 GB SATA * 500 GB SATA * 160 GB SATA RAPTOR * Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000SWA Silver 600W * Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Ultramon works great until I reboot.
Had all updated software and drives.
Perhaps, UltraMon has compatibility issue with ASUS and/or Nvidia?

Jonathan, please try removing the mirroring feature as described above, this seems to have fixed the problem for Randy.

Hi,
Thanks for quick reply ;-)
However, I never used mirroring feature. All 4 monitor runs different programs all the time.
I even removed original C: drive and made new clean C: drive with new windows xp pro. Installed UltraMon and exact same thing happens.
When this happens, I reinstalled video drive and it works until reboot or restart.

You'll still need to uninstall UltraMon's mirroring feature, even if you don't use it.
The problem is that the video card driver apparently isn't compatible with a driver installed by UltraMon mirroring.

Christian,
You are right. I removed mirroring feature and it's working great!
Mirroring feature, I can do without ;-)
Thanks for your help.
