I have a problem with the Ultramon buttons (to move the window to another monitor etc.)on top of the folder windows and some other windows. They are there, but they just don`t work! They do work in all applications (including Outlook Express), but do not in all folders and Internet Explorer! BTW.,the same is true for my nvidia nview buttons. They work respectively don`t work in exactely the same windows. With nview however I can make them work temporarily, if I open a window and switch nview off and on again. Then it works, but as soon as I close the window and open it again it doesn`t work anymore.
I`ve reinstalled the driver, cleaned the registry etc..
Seems to be a Windows problem.
Does anybody know, how this buttons work and where the problem might be?

Might be due to a security application which prevents Windows Explorer and IE from getting 'hooked' (this is what UltraMon and nView do to add the custom buttons).

The custom window buttons work fine for me with both Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer, I tested on Windows XP SP1 with UltraMon 2.5.

I am having the same problem. It occurs only in Internet Explorer/Windows Explorer. I'm on 98SE. The buttons used to work before, tried reinstalling and no change.

In addidtion, the two functions of the buttons do not appear in the list of options when you right click the title bar of the window (eg the menu that has Restore, Maximise, Close, etc)

Christian,
thanks for your reply. Is there anything I can do to make it work again? I even made a repair installation of WinXP, but nothing changed!
Any Win settings or dll - files etc., that I should check?

One thing you could try is disabling startup applications one by one using msconfig.exe (you can disable applications on the Startup tab).

Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be an anti-virus or other security application which causes the problem, that was just a guess.

My temp solution, use keyboard shorcuts. Works just like the buttons and you don't need to move the mouse!

Unfortunately I don't know what else you could try. Let me know if you find out anything.

Update: seems to be a conflict with some adware/spyware, a customer with the same problem reported that it worked fine again after running an adware/spyware removal tool.

I just ran ad-aware again (updated version).
Guess what? The buttons work again!
Thanks for your help again!
