Hi
I'm sitting with a Dell Optiplex GX60 Celeron 2.4 GHz system with Windows XP SP2. It's being used professionally for monitor mirroring to two monitors, sitting in each room, each with separate mice and keyboards. This works fine with UltraMon, which has been evaluated close to 30 days now (plan to register).
The Dell uses an Intel i82845 graphics controller internally and I've added a S3 Trio 64 V2 PCI card.
However sometimes an application freezes for 1-2 minutes after starting it up. Programs already running, keep doing so and everything else works fine. It doesn't matter which application I'm starting. I'm about 50% sure this is an occurance with UltraMon, as it hasn't happened when it's not running.
Thanks.

Maybe it's a performance issue related to mirroring, although I haven't seen this myself so far. Do you get a spike in CPU usage when the freeze occurs (Task Manager > Performance)?
For further troubleshooting, you could also check if disabling the Smart Taskbar and custom window buttons/menu commands makes any difference. These features can be disabled in UltraMon Options, on the Smart Taskbar, Window Title Bar, and Window Menu tabs.

Myself and a colleague have just started trying UltraMon, and while we appreciate the features, there does seem to be occasions (fairly regularly) when the computer (XP Pro os) just seems to partially hang. For example, yesterday on several occassions I just opened file manager and it sat there for a while before showing the contents of the folder that had been clicked on. My colleague had repeated issues with random programs pausing, but they disappeared when one day he switched Ultramon off. It was still set to load at startup and the next day the problems returned with Ultramon.

Sorry - for file manager read 'Windows Explorer'. Forgot to mention that we were not using mirroring (which I can't get to work at all, but that's another story!!)

If you have other background applications running, you could try if disabling them fixes the problem. To do this, run msconfig.exe and disable/enable applications on the Startup tab. You'll need to reboot the system for the changes to take effect.
What kind of issues did you have with mirroring?

Just tried mirroring and it has suddenly started working for no apparent reason. My first few attempts just failed and told me that rebooting might help (which at the time it didn't). I can't explain why it suddenly has started working!
There are quite a large number of programs in startup on msconfig, some of which I've already disabled as I don't need them. As the problems appeared when my colleague and I installed ultramon I suspect that is the problem, but as it is intermittent then I would have to keep removing other applications and then run the computer for a while to be sure if it that had helped or not. My colleague has uninstalled ultramon and is seeing if the slowdowns on his machine cease - will keep you posted!
Thanks
