when i connect to a system running ultramon using remote desktop, the remote system's smart taskbar stacks on top of its standard taskbar. can this be avoided?

Make sure the Windows taskbar is on the primary monitor, and UltraMon taskbars on secondary monitors.
Windows will move the Windows taskbar to the primary monitor if secondary monitors get disabled, but UltraMon taskbars won't get moved.
