We’ve finally finished decorating the veranda in our country house, The walls are covered with light wood paneling, and we placed some wicker furniture, but one solid wall without windows really stands out in a bad way, I’d like to create some kind of illusion of space there so the area doesn’t feel like a closed box, I thought about using wall murals, but that feels a bit outdated, and putting them on wooden walls would be quite a hassle, my husband suggested hanging a couple of large panoramic paintings to add more air to the interior, has anyone tried decorating empty wall sections this way, I’m curious which subjects work best to visually expand a space mountains, forests, or maybe ocean horizons? I’d like it to look natural and still fit the relaxed country house style.

Good evening, I have exactly the same situation as you, we would like to hear advice, because we cannot decide on a spouse.

The idea of canvas paintings actually works much better than murals in situations like this, because the stretched canvas creates depth and natural shadows, giving the impression of a real window, I had a similar issue with a blank wall in my living room and spent a long time looking for something subtle but high quality, checking out this collection it features some really impressive landscapes that don’t look like typical stock photos, I personally chose a misty forest morning scene, and thanks to the perspective and soft color transitions the room suddenly felt twice as deep, the key is to hang the artwork at eye level and choose a fairly large size so it becomes the main focal point on the wall, natural canvas against wooden walls looks very organic no synthetic feel or cheap glossy shine.
