Hi Christian

I will try to explain best as i can what i want to achieve and then you can tell me where im going wrong :)

I recently formatted my machine to put in new hardware but prior to that i had the following working fine but i dont know how i did it.

I use Remote Desktop/Terminal Services on my main machine to work on various other machines that i manage and what i want to do is have shortcuts on the desktop that are linked to pre filled in rdp files (basically user and pass and perfs all setup) so that you double click the shortcut and it automatically connects to the remote machines.

I have this all done but i want to setup various shortcuts to actually start up with the RD connecting screen on the main monitor but the spawned window will go to another monitor and go full screen (the full screen option is part of RD) now regardless of what i try to do i simply cant manage to replicate what i did before i formatted and now each time i setup a shortcut and double click it 1 of 2 things happen it starts the connecting box on the other monitor then full screens the main one or it starts the connecting box up on the other monitors and the entry is blank (requiring me to type all the settings in again) but when i have done that and it connects to the remote machine it then puts the spawned window on the main monitor still.

Where am i going wrong or was the fact that i had it working before a bug / fluke and this is not supported with ultramon?

I have sat here and tried all possible combinations and it just will not do what i want it to.

Any and all help gladly appreciated

Russ

Hi Russ,

try setting Show on the Window tab to Last Used Position.

You can then run the shortcut, restore the window, move it to the desired monitor and maximize it again. The next time you run the shortcut, the main window will be moved to the desired monitor automatically.

BTW, creating a shortcut directly to the .rdp file doesn't seem to work. You'll need to create a shortcut to %WINDIR%\system32\mstsc.exe and pass the .rdp file as the argument, like this:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mstsc.exe "C:\Documents and Settings\Christian\My Documents\Test.rdp"
I'll fix this for the next release if possible.
