Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Smart taskbar border problem

Hello,

I've noticed a few issues with the smart taskbar of Ultramon beta 6.

I use X-Mouse, a component of the Windows XP Tweak UI powertoy, which automatically gives the focus to any window currently under the cursor. As such, whenever I move over the smart taskbars, an annoying white border appears, which ruins the Windows XP "style" of the bar and cuts the bottom off of the taskbar buttons.

Secondly, when a window requires "attention" and turns orange, clicking on the button in the smart taskbar brings the window up, but doesn't turn the button back to blue. It seems to remain orange indefinately.

Other than that, great job!

Thanks for your bug reports.

X-Mouse: I haven't been able to reproduce this on XP, which theme/visual style are you using? I tested with the default Blue style. Taskbar settings: always on top, not autohide.

Flashing button: I've noticed this as well occasionally, I'm going to look into this for Beta 7. Did you notice if it only happens with specific applications?
To get the button back to normal, you'll have to move the application to a different monitor and back.

Hello Christian,

I'm using the standard "Luna" theme that XP defaults to, with X-Mouse set to Auto-focus, but not auto-raise and the smart taskbars set to Always on Top and Auto-hide. Additionaly, disabling or enabling X-Mouse doesn't seem to fix the problem immediately, a reboot is required.

I haven't really followed the flashing problem closely, but I remember it happened repeatedly to the Windows Messenger main window.

Thanks for the information, I have now been able to reproduce the problem:

If you are using Windows XP with a visual style (not Classic look), and the Smart Taskbar is set to autohide, the taskbar border will not match the visual style.

The problem is already fixed, you can download the updated UltraMonTaskbar.exe here.

Installing the file:
- close UltraMon
- go to your UltraMon directory (usually C:\Program Files\UltraMon) and create a backup of the original UltraMonTaskbar.exe
- extract the ZIP file to your UltraMon directory
- restart UltraMon using the shortcut in Start menu > All Programs > Startup

This update is for Windows XP users only.
