Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Beta 6 not saving setting
Spectrum_Leap   2002-02-06 09:27
Any settings I make in UltraMon 2 Beta 6 are not there the next time I start up or run the program.

Specifically, adding the disable/enable secondary option to the menu, the double click on icon setting, and hotkey assigments.

I don't even need to reboot to lose these. If I quit the program and restart, they are gone!

Running:
XP Pro
GeForce2 Pro AGP
Geforce2 MX400 PCI

Both with 27.20 driver, nView diabled.

Please check if the registry key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\2.0' exists, and if there are any subkeys or values.

No, there are no subkeys or values in the above mentioned key.

Should I reinstall, or is there a way to add them manually.

You can try reinstalling, but most likely that won't fix the problem.

Saving the settings could fail for the following reasons:

1) UltraMon doesn't have write access to the registry key. To test this, try creating a new value or key below the UltraMon registry key

2) UltraMon crashes while trying to save the settings. You should get an error message from Windows saying that UltraMon had to be closed

I did the uninstall/reinstall thing, and it didn't help at all.

Then tried to install Beta 5 because I knew it worked. Beta 5 gave me a expired message, and told me to update. I reinstalled Beta 6, and everything works fine!

Maybe my registry was "stuck"?

Thanks for the great software.

I'm glad you got it working, not sure why it happened though...

Mmmmm,

I've just checqued and this is my problem, nothing is written under that key.

If you could provide the proper format I could write the key myself in Registry...

I'll try to post privately to send you a screen dump Christian.

Thx,

Denis

Problem: on Windows 98/Me, UltraMon doesn't save the list of applications to which no custom buttons/menu commands should be added.

An updated version of UltraMon.exe is available that fixes this problem. Download here: umexe_win9x.zip.

To install the update:
- close UltraMon
- extract the ZIP to your UltraMon directory, usually C:\Program Files\UltraMon

This update is for Windows 98/Me users only.

mmmm. I encounted the same thing. I uninstalled it and only install for the "current user". Seems like it's working. Don't install with the 'all users' option
