This is a beta release with two major new features and several bug fixes.

Upgrading from 2.0 final or later: setup will upgrade your existing installation and preserve your settings and registration information. You don't need to uninstall your current installation of UltraMon first.
Upgrading from earlier versions: before installing, uninstall your current version of UltraMon and reboot. Windows 2000 users: if you are upgrading from 2.0 Beta 6 or 7, and have installed mirroring, uninstall UltraMon by following these steps:
Information for system administrators: upgrading a Windows 2000 system with mirroring installed requires a reboot shortly after starting setup. Setup will automatically resume after the system has been restarted. If you need to run the upgrade with custom command-line arguments (besides /q): UltraMon resumes setup by running
%WINDIR%\System32\Msiexec.exe /i "<UltraMon msi file>" /q[<ui level>]You can override the default by setting the RTSRESUMECMD property to the command-line you want to run. The following example sets RTSRESUMECMD in order to run the main part of setup (after the system restart) with logging enabled:

• Custom Display Properties applet with support for more than 10 monitors
Selecting Display Settings from the menu will open the new Display Properties applet. Main features are support for more than 10 monitors (Windows Display Properties is limited to 10), easy access to refresh rate setting, support for manually entering monitor coordinates, and the ability to enable/disable all secondary monitors (remembers enabled position of monitors).
To open Windows Display Properties, select Windows Display Properties from the menu. This is an optional menu item, and can be disabled in Options > Customization.
• Support for multiple languages
The first additional language is German, the german setup package can be downloaded here. You can also install the German language pack on an english installation of UltraMon. To change the language, go to Options > General.
Information for system administrators: UltraMon supports Windows 2000/XP systems with multiple languages installed (MUI). After installing UltraMon, install the desired language packs. By default, UltraMon will use the user's language (if available). If a single user uses multiple languages, and UltraMon should always use the current operating system language: go to the registry key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon' and set the Language value to an empty string.
• Support for closing UltraMon from scripts
Running UltraMon.exe /stop will close UltraMon.
• ALT+F4 no longer closes the Smart Taskbar
• Refresh option added to the Smart Taskbar menu
This is a workaround for an issue reported by several users, where task buttons occcasionally wouldn't be removed if the application is closed. This menu option is enabled by default, but can be disabled in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Smart Taskbar, set the value 'Show Refresh Menu Option' to 0.
The following bugs have been fixed:
• Remote Desktop: when logging in locally again, UltraMon still only sees a single monitor
This happens if the system is started without logging in, and UltraMon then gets started in the remote session. When logging in locally, UltraMon is still running but doesn't see that the secondary monitors are now available again.
• Editing the keyboard shortcut for a hotkey with options doesn't work
• Wrong keyboard shortcut shown for hotkey on the hotkey list
For example CTRL+ALT+RIGHT will be listed as CTRL+ALT+NUM 6.
• Shortcuts to .rdp and .vbp files don't work
• Shortcut extension doesn't work on Windows 98/Me
• Monitor names switched with some dualhead cards
• Scripting: can't enable a monitor if it hasn't been enabled using Display Properties at least once
• Even if 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display' is unchecked for a monitor, UltraMon doesn't show all possible refresh rates
• Smart Taskbar listed in Task Manager > Applications
• Smart Taskbar doesn't adjust its size if a different visual style is selected or the appearance settings are modified
• Smart Taskbar autohide may no longer work after killing an application using Task Manager
• Smart Taskbar may not work if TraySaver is running
• Remote Desktop and autohide Smart Taskbar
When connecting to a remote system which has the Smart Taskbar running in autohide mode, the Smart Taskbar may be visible on the primary monitor as a thin line.
• Smart Taskbar issues with several third-party visual styles
Affected visual styles include Classix Thin, nexisProfessional, Sentinel.
• Smart Taskbar height not correct with Windows XP Classic look
For horizontal taskbars, the Smart Taskbar height may not always match the height of the Windows taskbar when using Classic look.
• Smart Taskbar issue with Synergy
When moving the mouse to a client system, the Smart Taskbar on the server hides itself.
• UltraMon Screen Saver crashes when using Novell Client 4.83 SP1
Status: this is an issue with the Novell Client. Novell has a fix and more information on this issue: TID-10071904 The application failed to initialize properly. Another workaround is to enable password protection for the screen saver.
• Some applications can't be positioned with UltraMon shortcuts
Can't be positioned at all: ICQ, Netscape Navigator 4.x, Windows Explorer. Don't work with Last Used Position: Internet Explorer, Outlook XP.
Status: will be fixed in a future release if possible.
• Smart Taskbar very slow on Windows XP
By default, the Smart Taskbar (UltraMonTaskbar.exe) runs with low priority on Windows XP. Some users have reported slow response times with low priority, increasing the priority to normal fixed the problem. As a workaround, you can adjust the process priority in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Smart Taskbar, set the value 'Process Priority' to 0.

• Smart Taskbar may be shown when playing a fullscreen game
When playing a game on a monitor with an UltraMon taskbar, which is configured to be always on top, the UltraMon taskbar will hide itself when the game starts, but when you move the mouse to the monitor edge with the UltraMon taskbar, it will show itself again. This behavior is by design, but not desired for games. As a workaround, disable the Smart Taskbar or play the game on the monitor with the Windows taskbar.
