I have got a Leadtek GeForce 2 MX DH in WinXP UM works fine - but because of some issues I'm having with the Nvidia drivers I have gone back to Win2k -

Anyway - with Win2k I notice the monitor monitor support in Win2k means I have to use the TwinView tab... which is cool because the TwinView tab allows me to do a lot... however - UltraMon doesn't seem to see there is a second monitor anymore.

So is UltraMon not compatable with TwinView and Win2k?

UltraMon won't work properly with ATI and Nvidia dualhead cards on Windows 2000, due to the lack of true multi-monitor support.

This is because UltraMon relies on the operating system to get information about installed monitors. Without true multi-monitor support, Windows (and UltraMon) recognizes only a single large monitor.

Thanks Christian,

I figured it was something like this - just gonna have to wait until WinXP and Nvidia get their act into gear and the problems with memory timeouts and resetting the computer stop.

Win2k does over 700 of 16 tests of 3dMark2001 - and it probably could have continued I just got bored waiting :) WinXP however does only 40 to 48 of 16 tests before it causes a "Out of Memory" error. Not nice.

Got Win98SE for gaming anyway - but having massive problems with trying to set the secondary monitor correctly. It does 1280x1024 in Win2k and WinXP - however in Win98SE it does only 1024x768 and if I try to use it on WinME it causes the computer to reset at boot up... not a pretty site.

Then again - unless it is a game designed for multimonitor - I really only use MultiMonitor for Desktop publishing and work related stuff anyway.

Thanks for the information - I'm playing around with Win2k to see if I can get things working correctly, and the TwinView Desktop manager is a godsent :)
