Hello, I hope someone can help me.

I am trying to run dual monitors. I can go into properties and enable the secondary just fine. I can change resolution, color everything on either and it all works great together UNTILL......
power saving shuts the primary off . When that happens the primary stays black and the monitor light flashs green yellow meaning no signal. The secondary monitor still works and show the desktop with no problems. Windows is running fine with no errors but I cant see anything on the primary monitor.
When i reboot the system the primary comes on and displays fine just to the point where the desktop is coming up then the primary goes black. Windows continues to load and the secondary works just fine.

The only way to get the primary back up and running is to boot in safe mode and delete the secondary card. Then windows boots fine redetects the 2nd card. If you don't enable the 2nd card then windows will run and restart normally. (but you have no dual) You can enable the second card and work in dual bliss so long as you dont let powersaving to cut in or as long as you don't restart the system.

I have an...
ABIT BE6 motherboard
TNT2 Ultra AGP {primary}
S3TRIO 64 v2/dx ver 775

The M/B BIOS has been updated to the latest PL ver
AGP is seleted as primary in bios
2nd card is in slot 2 where it does not have to share an IRQ with anything.

Any Ideas??

Do you have the latest drivers for your video cards? Seems like the TNT2 driver has problems with power management.

You could also try using the PCI as primary, would be interesting to see if you have the same problems.

I have the latest Creative drivers for the tnt card and have been unable to find ANY newer drivers for the 775 S3 card. I was made my Biostar but they dont have any mention of it on thier website.

I haven't tried swapping primarys, although I guess it would be an interesting experiment. I would MUCH rather have the 32 meg TNT2 as primary than a 2 meg generic :)

How about disabling the power management? It's very annoying anyway (for me :) - I usually switch my monitors off by hand when I leave my comp for a longer time.
