Hello,

I have a 940UX monitor. It connects via a USB port. I cannot make it the primary monitor and keep the task bar at the bottom of it. Do you think this is because the connection is through the USB port and not the video card? I will call Samsung later but wanted to check in here.

Thanks.

This is most likely due to the driver for the monitor, some drivers prevent UltraMon and Windows from making a monitor primary by identifying it as a removable monitor.

You can verify this under UltraMon menu > About, if it says removable next to the monitor, UltraMon can't make it the primary monitor.

It does not say 'removable' next to the monitor. I posted below what it does say in 'About'. Monitor 3 is the second monitor connected by USB that I want to be primary. Thank you.

3 monitors, 1 disabled
Current desktop: 1600x600 (-800,0 - 800,600)

Monitor 1 - Plug and Play Monitor (primary):
Settings: 800x600, 32-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: 0,0 - 800,600. Workspace: 0,0 - 800,572
Video card: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
Device: \\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor1

Monitor 2 - Plug and Play Monitor (disabled):
Settings: 640x480, 8-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: -640,-96 - 0,384
Video card: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
Device: \\.\DISPLAY2\Monitor0

Monitor 3 - Samsung UbiSync Monitor (USB_0101-000000HMBQ100285):
Settings: 800x600, 32-bit color, 75 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: -800,0 - 0,600. Workspace: -800,0 - 0,570
Video card: DisplayLink Graphics Adapter

Looks like this should work fine, what happens if you make it the primary monitor via UltraMon menu > Display Settings or UltraMon menu > Set Primary?

Nope, The UltraMon controls don't work. This is what happens:

1. It's configured as 3(on left)-1(on right)

2. 1 is the primary

3. I click on the controls to set 3 as primary

4. When I click apply 3 moves to the right of 1 and again becomes the secondary monitor and 1 becomes the primary. This occurs whetehr I use Windows controls or UltraMon.

Any other ideas?
Thanks.

It's probably an issue with either the driver for the USB monitor, or a utility software installed for the monitor.

If the monitor included a configuration utility, you might be able to set it as the primary monitor using that.

How about physically rearranging the monitors so one of the VGA monitors is where you want your primary screen to be, and use the UbiSync as the secondary or tertiary monitor?
