I'm using Ultramon 3 beta 2.1, and have noticed a couple issues:

1) The added buttons on the title bars sometimes move slowly when dragging a window around the screen. Also, the added buttons are sometimes placed slightly "off" from where they should be - it's just a few pixels, and it's random, but noticable.

2) Since installing Ultramon, I can no longer use "Quick Edit" mode in command prompt windows. I cannot select text, and I cannot right-click to paste copied text from the clipboard.

Otherwise, Ultramon 3.0 seems to be very stable on Vista x64. In the past two months that I've been using it, it hasn't crashed or misbehaved (other than above) once.

Very nice!

1) I'll look into performance improvements for a later release, but performance will still depend on overall system performance and current CPU usage.

Regarding button positioning: I've seen this occasionally after application startup, moving/resizing the application window fixes the problem. Seems to be some sort of timing issue, I'll look into this for the next release.

2) Quick Edit mode works fine for me on 64-bit Vista with UltraMon running, I'm not sure what would cause the problem on your system.

You could try if disabling the UltraMon window buttons for the command prompt fixes the problem, you can do this via UltraMon Options > Compatibility.

1) The slowness often occurs even when the cpu (Core2Duo 2.66ghz) is pretty much idling. The rest of the system is pretty above average - it's definitely not an I/O issue. I wouldn't have mentioned the issue if it didn't seem to be more than other programs that I've seen hook to the Windows GUI and add buttons. (Note: I have no other such application currently installed, so it isn't an issue with another GUI hooking program.) Of course, I understand that Ultramon 3 is still in beta... Right now, I'm just requesting that the final release is speedier ;)

2) "Disable window buttons" on cmd.exe did the trick. I can now use QuickEdit mode, again. Thanks!

I am being bothered by this as well. Don't recall it happening in one of the previous beta versions though. It's only the latest beta (2.1) that does that.
