Working in Adobe Acrobat 8.1 on Windows XP machines with UltraMon 2.7.1 we keep loosing the minimize and maximize button on the window title bar.

Do you mean the Move Window and Maximize to Desktop buttons added by UltraMon? If yes, I would recommend installing the 3.0 beta, which handles window buttons differently.

No I am talking about the default windows minimize screen and maximize screen buttons. The UltraMon buttons work fine and seem to overlay the windows buttons.

This could happen if the application uses a custom title bar.
As a workaround, you could disable the UltraMon buttons for Acrobat via UltraMon Options > Window Title Bar, or try if it works with the 3.0 beta, which can detect the position of the standard buttons on custom title bars with most applications.
