Equipment:Desktop running XP OS, nVidia MX4000 for monitor (PCI), nVidia FX 5500 for (2) Akai PDP 5016H displays (AGP).

Problem: Can run powerpoint fullscreen on Akai displays but cannot run video on media player at fullscreen. Video card wants to default to "dual view" mode and a desktop view. I have tried a different computer with a ATI Radeon HD 2600 (PCI-Express)and have had no solution (monitor and 1 Akai display). I have searched forum for ideas and have come up empty.

Question: Do I trash the video cards in favor of a one card solution (y to the Akai displays) or will a software solution (Ultramon) with a different media player work? or both? I'm sure I'm in over my head - any help would be greatly appreciated!

To clarify, do you have a total of 3 monitors, with 2 monitors connected to the FX 5500 video card, and you would want to show the same video on both monitors connected to the FX 5500?

Yes, That is correct.

One thing you could try is to use clone mode for the FX 5500, but cloning video may not always work if the video player uses video overlays.

It should work fine with video overlays disabled though, to do this go to advanced display properties, select the Troubleshoot tab, and reduce hardware acceleration until DirectX acceleration is disabled.

UltraMon mirroring can only mirror video if video overlays are disabled, and is slower than clone mode due to being done in software.

A video splitter should also work fine to show the same video on two monitors.

Thanks for your help. I'll give it a try this weekend. If we can clone off of the monitor to one of the Akai displays, we will get a y to run both displays. Thanks for the tip on the video overlay. I'll let you know how it works out.
