I tried out 3.0 B1. I hope the Smart Taskbar's scheduled for a lot of work, still.
I immediately missed the context menu options that v2 had. They're almost all gone.
More important at the time, though, was that I was missing all my IM (MS Office Communicator) conversations. It took me a bit to figure out why. I have the Smart Taskbar set to auto-hide. When an MSOC conversation window opens, it flashes on the taskbar but doesn't become active. Windows and the Smart Taskbar in v2 handle this properly, by showing the auto-hidden taskbar. However, the Smart Taskbar in 3b1 doesn't show, so I never see the flashing window.

Thanks for the bug report, this should be fixed in the next release.
The version 3 Smart Taskbar gets configured automatically, for this reason configuration options were removed.
For example it always uses the same settings as the main taskbar, and ensures that there's a taskbar on each monitor after you have added a monitor or moved the main taskbar to a different monitor.
