I downloaded and installed the Version 3.0 beta and have encountered an issue. Is this the correct place to report beta issues?

The details of the issue I have come across are that I am getting an errir that indicates:

UltraMon Taskbar encountered a fatal error and will exit. This usually happens when the system is low on memory or other resources, but might also happen for other reasons.

Technical details:

Source file: .\TaskBand.cpp
Line: 633
Return value: 0
Last error: 1402

My system is not particularly low on any resources that I can tell. I do have a number of apps running, but no more than usual. I did log in remotely earlier than switched to a local login; not sure if that would make any difference.

Is there anything else I could provide that would help?

Thanks for the bug report, this is the right place.

This issue is not related to low system resources, seems to happen on some systems if some applications get started or are already running when the Smart Taskbar is running.

I'll look into this for the next release. The Smart Taskbar will usually work fine again if you restart it after the error.

Is version 3 still in development? I see that the beta (which I'm currently trying out) was last updated in March of 2007.

Is this scheduled for release soon or is there a later beta to grab?

Thanks.

The second beta is under development, but I don't have an estimated release date yet.

Got this error 2 days in a row now, just now shortly after restarting my system:

I'm using the 3.0 beta with Vista and have some problems with the smart taskbar. On a number of occasions I wind up with a program displayed both in the smart taskbar on my secondary monitor to the left and on the windows taskbar in my primary display on the right. It seems to happen most often with Office applications, especially Visio 2007, but it's not 100% of the time.

I too have also encountered this exact same error, but I've only encountered it twice. Both times was when I was running a virtual machine and I would definitely attribute it to low memory.

In both cases I was running a virtual machine (Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 x86) with 1024 MB (1 GB) of memory allocated to it.

The host machine is a Dell Latitude D820 running Windows Vista Ultimate x86 with 2 GB of RAM on an Intel Centrino Duo.

Other running applications included Outlook 2007, Office Communicator, Internet Explorer and a handful of other applications.

I've also gotten this error a few times with 3.0 Beta 1.

Another thing I've noticed, which is probably related to the same issue, is that running Ultramon 3.0 beta 1 slows down my computer significantly the longer it runs.

Starting applications and just opening my start menu takes forever. I was having this problem for the last couple months and recently discovered that closing Ultramon instantly fixes the problem. It's a very obvious difference.

I'm running Norton AV, not sure if that is having a contributing factor (not a fan of AV in general since it always causes problems, but it is required by my employer).

I'm a registered user so I think it's a great program. I've switched now to 2.7.1, and will see if I have the same issue.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I'm running Windows XP SP2 on a Dell D620 w/ 1G of RAM and Intel Core2 Duo.
