im getting the following error when starting up windows. i would say this happens about 7/10 times i start windows.
Windows Vista 64 Ultimate Ultramon 3.0 beta 1
error:
UltraMon Taskbar encountered a fatal error and will exit. This usually happens when the system is low on memory or other resources, but might also happen for other reasons.
Technical Details:
SourceFile: .\DeskTaskBarManager.cpp line: 1027 Return Value: 0 Last error: 0
my PC is a C2D6600 with 2gig ram + 8800GTX + 2 x dell 24" LCDs can give more specifics if you need.
If i click ok to the error message close Ultramon and restart it it seems to be ok though.
Cheers Jon

This error means that UltraMon failed to install a hook, most likely delaying UltraMon startup will fix the problem.
To do this, run regedit.exe and set the AutoStartDelay value under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\3.0.0 to the number of seconds by which startup should be delayed, for example 10 seconds.
You will most likely no longer see this issue with the next release, due to changes to how hooks are used.

Having the same issue, restarting the application, reinstalling, delaying startup does not help. it did work when i first installed the program but since has not.. running the beta version of ultramon.

You'll get this error if a file used by the Smart Taskbar has become corrupted, see this thread for more on this issue.

I tried the autostart fix and the fix on the thread link you posted, but immediately after I started ultramon, I got the error.

This error is due to something else, seems to happen on some systems if certain applications are running or get started.
I'm going to look into this for the next release, unfortunately there is no real workaround. But usually the Smart Taskbar will work fine again if you restart it after the crash.

yes. Disabling then enabling the taskbar fixes the problem, but it's just a little annoying that's all. it hasn't happened for a couple of days now. at one point it was happening almost once an hour (inconsistently).
Thanks for the reply!

I'm getting this same error from the first post, only it happens every time I run UltraMon. I tried changing the registry keys, as well as deleting the Registry key folder and the file from App Data. This didn't do anything, I still get the exact same error as LaughingJon.
This only happens with the SmartTaskbar enabled, of course. The rest of the program still works, from what I can tell.I just installed the 64-bit Vista Business last week after having run 32-bit Vista Business (which the program worked on perfectly). I just realized this morning that the SmartTaskbar wasn't working.
I've tried using both the latest release and the Beta, same results.

With UltraMon running, do you see RTSHookInterop.exe on the Processes tab of the Task Manager?
Christian Studer - www.realtimesoft.com
|
Zach Demeter 2007-11-05 15:01
Nope, RTSHookInterop.exe isn't anywhere in Task Manager.
|
Christian Studer 2007-11-06 08:39
That's most likely the problem, this needs to be running on 64-bit Windows in order to support 32-bit applications.
Some things you could do:
- repair your UltraMon installation: Control Panel > Programs and Features, select UltraMon, then click on Repair
- check if you have security software installed which might prevent RTSHookInterop.exe from running

That worked! Awesome, thanks.
It also seems that without that RTSHookInterop.exe in the program, I was getting Blue Screens randomly. But now that it's installed properly it's all good.
Thanks!
