I am using the slideshow screensaver on a dual-monitor system (WinXP); I have "preview mode" selected. My issue is that sometimes (roughly half the time) the slideshow in each monitor is identical, while sometimes it shows different pictures in each. The latter is what I would expect (and desire). It seems that some of the time there are two processes running (I can see a slight time lag between the pictures) while sometimes it is one process across the two screens (identical pictures show up with virtually no time lag). Any ideas what is causing this and/or how to fix it? I can't discern any pattern that causes one behavior over the other.
Thanks.

UltraMon launches two instances of the slideshow screen saver if you have assigned it to both monitors.
The two processes aren't synchronized, so it's random which behavior you'll get.
If you want to show pictures from different folders on each monitor, you could set this up as described here.

So, I wonder if maybe the "randomization" seed is based on the time, perhaps? That might explain why the two separate processes run identically half the time (i.e. they both use the same seed value).

I don't know how the My Pictures screen saver is implemented, but that would certainly be a possibility.
