I have sent this note to realtimesoft.com but figure someone here in the forum might be a bit faster off the mark in responding.

My System:

Dell XPS600 3.0GHz Pentium D830
2GB DDR2 SDRAM, Windows XP Prof. Media Center
256MB Nvidia GeForce 6800 Graphics Card
Serial ATA RAID 0 With Dual 250GB Hard Drives
Dell 20" Flat Screen 2005FPW (which runs at 60Hz) designated #1
Sony Multiscan 100ES analog monitor designated #2

CURRENT PROBLEM: when I attempt to open a folder, file, or program whose icon resides on #1 monitor (the LCD), it opens on #2 monitor, the old Sony.

I use UltraMon to control the two monitors. Primary monitor is a Dell 20" LCD (on the left) and secondary monitor is an old Sony Trinitron analog, to the right of the LCD monitor.

I have gone into Desktop Properties|Settings|Advanced| and ultimately get to the window where I can select the GeForce 6800 graphics card, where most electable choices can be made concerning monitor position, selection, etc. When I click on "Identify", the large "1" appears on the LCD, as it should. Same for the "2" which appears on the Sony analog.

The task bar is at the bottom of the #1 monitor, where it should be, but when I select a program to open from there, the program opens on Monitor #2, the Sony.

If I re-boot, either cold or warm, all my desktop icons and taskbar icons show up on the Dell LCD monitor, where they should. However, double clicking on any icon or folder on the LCD monitor opens them on the monitor #2. It is maddening!

This problem did not occur until after I had returned to older Nvidia drivers for my GeForce 6800 graphics board. I have spent several hours trying to fix the problem, but to no avail.

Can anyone tell me what is going on and how to correct this situation?

Many thanks.

Bill Cline

Please send me the system information from UltraMon's About dialog. To access this dialog, right-click the UltraMon icon in the system tray and select About from the menu.

Christian,

Apparently you closely monitor this forum, too. I received your email plus your note here at about the same time. Many thanks.
