I am having a terrible time getting a dual config running on a Gateway E-5400 under Win2000 Pro (Intel 0R840 motherboard, BIOS does not have an option for AGP/PCI load order). I have installed all possible combinations of the following with every driver i could lay hands on to no avail:

AGP Voodoo3 3000
AGP Creative Annihlator Pro
PCI Voodoo3 2000
PCI Xpert 128

I contacted Microsoft tech support and have been told that my secondary card MUST have a method for disabling the VGA. Would someone please recommend to me a PCI card that will do atleast 1280x1024 32bit and that i can disable the cursed VGA on?

Much thanks in advance,

Jayme

I am using a Viper 550 and a Fire GL 1000 Pro as secondary on Win2000, no need to disable VGA manually.

What kind of problems do you have? I would expect the Creative and the two 3dfx cards to work as secondary, not sure about the ATI.

Every time that i put a second board in the machine win2000 detects, shows no conflicts, but says something to the effect of not being able to allocate resources and that i should disable another device to make the PCI card work. I have just brought in the following cards to test, hopefully one will work...

Matrox Millenium II
FireGL3000
STB Nitro
Creative TNT

It seems that the problem is due to the fact that i cant do any bios tweaking whatsoever, the bios is watered down heavilly. *sighs*

Have you tried using a different PCI slot? Maybe the slot you are currently using shares IRQ or doesn't support bus mastering.
