I have been running two monitors for a couple of years and now got the hair to add a third.
I play everquest, wow, DOAC....etc.... With the dual monitors on a geforce5950AGP running on the two outputs, in this setup can run 4 everquests sessions with minor lag.
When i added the second card 5500fx 256 PCI and a third monitor the games lag horriably as soon as i move a copy over to the third monitor. I have read about and confirmed the same lag when using dual view option in nview for the two original monitors. When your in horizontal view it tricks the system to think one desktop on two monitors......ok got all that....but i thought with a new video card i would not be adding the same stress to the system as dualview did.
So my question is two pronged...
System- P4 800 3.2 5950xt 256agp(think, been a long time) 5500fx 256pci 2gig corsair mem
Is there a way in the software (ultramon to make trick the system on the third monitor, basicly i guess allow opengl/direct3d on thrid monitor? I only need the desktop to allow a instance window of the game to fit.
Or is there hardware settings i need to activate to make the cards work closer, happier, whatever....Or, hopefully not because my wife wont like me spending more money right now, do i need a three headed card to make this run right?
Thanks in advance, have a great new year!

UltraMon won't help with this.
Span mode across multiple video cards would need to be supported by the video card driver, but I'm not aware of any manufacturer who supports this.
The Matrox Parhelia has a 3-monitor span mode, but 3D performance probably won't be that good.

Thanks much.
I was able to set up the 3rd monitor on a lower resolution 1024....instead of 1600 which droped the lag a ton...however i downloaded the newest nvida drivers and that seems to have made it a little worse. Not sure if i want to roll back the driver as a test or not.
Thanks for the reply!
