Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Taskbars not showing up across 3 monitors

Ultramon started to simply not work a few days ago - nothing new was installed except Warcraft III and Microsoft Office 2003.

I uninstalled then reinstalled Ultramon, and the Smart Taskbars are not showing up on my secondary/tertiary monitors like they were before. I disable and re-enable it, to no avail.

The instructions in the Support link don't apply, when it says:

"To adjust the Smart Taskbar configuration, right-click an UltraMon taskbar to display the configuration menu. 'Add Taskbar for' is used to add a new taskbar for a monitor, 'Show Tasks from' is used to specify from which monitors the taskbar will show tasks."

I don't get 'Add Taskbar for' by right-clicking either the Ultramon logo or the primary monitor's taskbar. I obviously can't click the taskbars on the other monitors since they don't exist.

I tried the registry key fix mentioned in the FAQ, but the DefaultConfigNumMons key is already at 0 and the Taskbars key does not exist.

Any idea what the problem is?

Please post the system information from UltraMon's About dialog. You can access the About dialog via UltraMon menu > About.

My setup can be seen here:

http://www.kyleboddy.com/images/home%20office.jpg

I have three monitors, two graphics cards (7800GT in the PCIe slot, Radeon 7000 in a PCI slot), and I'm using two DVI ports on the 7800GT and one DVI port on the 7000.

Thanks!

Thanks for the information, looks good.

Please try the following:

1) close UltraMon
2) run regedit.exe and delete the registry key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Smart Taskbar'
3) restart UltraMon

UltraMon will then create a new default configuration for the Smart Taskbar.

As per my original post:

"I tried the registry key fix mentioned in the FAQ, but the DefaultConfigNumMons key is already at 0 and the Taskbars key does not exist."

Unless you mean the entire key 'Smart Taskbar' with all the values in it, in which case I just tried that and it didn't work.

Bumping the process priority to Normal does nothing, either.

Any other ideas?

Yes, I meant the whole key.

If you open task manager, is UltraMonTaskbar.exe listed under Processes?

Disabling/enabling does not work, but running UltraMonTaskbar.exe does, since it's not in Task Manager on load.

How can I fix this?
Christian Studer   2006-09-12 02:14
If the taskbar works fine when you start it manually, the problem is most likely that the UltraMon taskbar fails during startup for some reason, maybe because the Windows taskbar hasn't been fully initialized yet.

To fix this, you could delay automatic UltraMon startup, see this thread for more on this.
