Is there an easy way to set a hot key to minimize the active window?

There's no built-in hotkey for this, but you could do this with the MinimizeWnd script.

You can minimize the active window (in Windows) using ctrl-space,n. ctrl-space will bring up the control window (same as if you click on the little application icon in the upper right corner of the active window). On the menu that pops up, n will minimize. Obviously, this trick will only work in Windows.
