I read from another poster in another forum that Ultramon will not work with windows media center. He was working in mirror/clone mode and said that the mirrored monitor would not produce media center front end when it was open. Is there any reason why that would be the case? Is it likely his settings were wrong, ie he did not disable overlay and acceleration?

That's most likely the reason. Media Center probably uses 3D graphics for the user interface, which UltraMon can only mirror if the 'disable video overlays and 3D acceleration' option is selected.
Please note that this option might cause problems for video playback.
