is there anyway to have the smart taskbar on, even when only one display is on? i like having the windows taskbar ontop with my quicklaunch icons, and the smart taskbar on the bottom of the screen to see whats running, similar to KDE. thanks

To do this, right-click an existing UltraMon taskbar, then select 'Add Taskbar for' to add a taskbar to the primary monitor.
This taskbar will then show all tasks for the primary monitor, the Windows taskbar will no longer show any tasks.

I did this, and it only enables to Smart Taskbar when there are two displays.

Sorry about that, this does indeed no longer work, starting with version 2.6 UltraMon won't add any taskbars if only a single monitor is enabled.
What you could do is dock the Quick Launch toolbar at the top of the primary monitor, and the Windows taskbar at the bottom.
To move a toolbar off the Windows taskbar, just grab it with the mouse and drag it to the desired position.
