Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Primary/Secondary switch at reboot!

Aaargh.

I'm trying the program, and I like what I see - but I've got a really stupid problem:

I have a 1024/768 projector and a 1280/1024 monitor attached to an ATIO Radeon 9500. I have profiles set to switch between the projector and monitor. But for some reason, when I reboot the computer, the settings get switched so that ultramon sends the pj settings to the monitor and vice versa.

Is there a workaround for this??

Is the monitor the primary before the reboot, and the projector is the primary after the reboot?

For further troubleshooting, please post the system information from UltraMon's About dialog (UltraMon menu > About), from before rebooting the system and after rebooting it.

It's more this: sometimes (and it seems to be connected to rebooting - possibly, though not always, depending on which monitor is "primary" at the time of reboot) the displays to which "monitor 1" and "monitor 2" somehow switch places. When this happens - and it has happened a couple times now - Ultramon continues to apply its settings to "monitor 1" and "monitor 2" - only now these settings end up on the wrong monitor.

Here's the "about" reading:

2 monitors, 1 disabled
Current desktop: 1280x1024 (0,0 - 1280,1024)

Monitor 1 - Default Monitor (disabled):
Settings: 1024x768, 32-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: -1024,0 - 0,768
Video card: RADEON 9500 @ 9700 (http://softmod.techpowerup.com)
Device: \\.\DISPLAY1

Monitor 2 - Default Monitor (primary):
Settings: 1280x1024, 32-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: 0,0 - 1280,1024. Workspace: 0,0 - 1280,1024
Video card: RADEON 9500 @ 9700 (http://softmod.techpowerup.com) - Secondary
Device: \\.\DISPLAY2\Monitor0

Here's a slightly more precise explanation: I've now discovered that EVERY time I reboot the computer *with both display on,* it switches "monitor 1" and "monitor 2." This isn't just an ultramon issue - windows and ATI catlyst show the same thing.

Unfortunately I don't know what might cause this.

My guess would be that it's an issue with the video card driver, though I haven't seen this problem on my ATI system (Windows XP SP2, Radeon X700 with Catalyst 5.11).
