hi
i was useing G400 32mb duelhead on win98 with two monitprs. 1. 19' inch resolution 1280x1024 refresh was 80hz 2. 14' inch max resolution 800x600 refresh was 60hz tops. and it was great.
now on win2000 i can only use same resolution for both of the monitors and it sucks. now have to use my 19'inch monitor with 800x600 and it looks bad. i have matroxs latest driver for win2000.
am I doing anything wrong? is there a way to fix it. i am asking this becuase i know that win2000 suport multimon just like win98, so why can't I use it like i used my two monitors on win98.
oh and i can't get back to win98.
thank you

This is a limitation of the current Win2000 drivers. As far as I know, it is due to the hardware architecture of the G400: a single chip for both monitors instead of a chip for each one. No idea if Matrox will be able to fix this in a future release.

I use 3 TNT cards and have slugish video at 1200x1000x16M colors 85Hz. Slugish video: when I quickly drag large window across the monitors, 20 to 30 duplicates are created in the wake. It takes a few "seconds" for them to go away. I exspected to wait a few "milliseconds". Am I exspecting too much or does a dualhead card perform much faster. If I take a window and drag it round and round, it creates a hell of a mess, that eventually goes away.

I think this is more related to video and processor performance than using multiple monitors. On my system (Win2000, dual P2-400, TNT2, TNT and Permedia 2), moving windows around on the TNT2 and TNT works great, the screen gets refreshed almost instantly. But moving windows on the slower Permedia 2 does leave traces.

I just ordered the Matrox G400, but it came under the name HP Matrox G400, ($180 from CDW) did HP co-brand this card? I was using two PCI cards on Win 98, with an old P133 and this is way too slow for trading stocks, especially fast trading ones, it can lock up the whole system. I'm upgrading to a PII 266 with this G400 AGP card, but recenly heard there may be issues with the "single chip" and Win 2000. Can I expect much better results?
Thanks in advance.

Forgot to ask, will the above configuration be considered higher performance than installing two PCI cards? I've been told that you cannot use an AGP card along with a PCI or ISA card. Since the AGP card is directly on the motherboard, it's the only one that will initialize.
