I have a NVIDIA Quadro PCI-E setup here, monitor 1 is on the right, monitor 2 to the left. The real taskbar is on monitor 2, smart bar is on monitor 1.

I have Visual Studio 2003 running (specifically VB.NET) on monitor 1 and several other applications running at the same time including windows explorer on the same monitor.

I have explorer open (in normal window state) and hidden behind Visual Studio which is maximised.
First I minimise Visual Studio, then maximise it again by clicking on it in the smart bar.
Then I attempt to minimise VS again, but instead of minimising, the explorer window receives focus and pops up in front of VS.
From that point on, attempting to minimise VS does nothing until I close Visual Studio and open it again.

Hope that's enough for you to reproduce.

Please check if you have the same problem without the Smart Taskbar running. To close it, right-click a free area and select Close from the menu.

My guess would be that this isn't an UltraMon issue, I have only tested with VS 2005 though.

No problem when all smart bars are closed.

I did some further testing and this only happens when I have my real taskbar on Monitor 2 (at -1280,0) and the smartbar on Monitor 1 (at 0,0). If I have them the other way around then it's fine.

I have a slightly odd setup in that I dragged monitor 2 so that it's to the left of monitor 1 in display properties. Was too lazy to physically move the monitors :)

Cheers.

I have now tested with Visual Studio 2003, but unfortunately haven't been able to reproduce this issue.

One thing you could try is to make monitor 2 the primary monitor, maybe the issue only occurs if the Windows taskbar isn't on the primary monitor.

Here's how I tested: UltraMon 2.6 and Visual Studio 2003 on Windows XP SP2. Monitor 1 primary with UltraMon taskbar, monitor 2 secondary with Windows taskbar, to the left of monitor 1. Normal Windows Explorer window on monitor 1 and maximized Visual Studio 2003 window on monitor 1 with VB.NET project open.

Clicking on the Visual Studio taskbar button always correctly minimized/maximized the Visual Studio window.

Very odd. Maybe there's something else I'm running that's causing the issue.
Ah well, I got around it by keeping the smartbar on the secondary monitor and it seems to work fine.

Thanks :)
