Hi, First of all thanks for a great software!
I have a problem with the "Show Desktop" function (WIN key + D). Somehow it minimizes (hiding) the smart-taskbar on my second display. Pressing WIN+D again will show the smart-taskbar.
Don't remember to have this problem before. I think it came after installing the latest 2.6 build. I'm using two Raedon 9xxx cards with three monitors. Two of them have task-bars (only one has a smart-taskbar, of course). The ones that have task-bars are installed on different graphic cards.

Make sure you have the latest patch for 2.6 installed.
Show Desktop shouldn't hide the UltraMon taskbars, I tested on Windows XP SP2, taskbars were configured for always on top, no autohide.

The latest version of Ultramon is installed (v. 2.6.26.0). I'm also running WinXP PRO SP2 with it's latest updates installed.

Do you use a custom shell or other desktop enhancement software?

This happens to me too. The only fix I have found for it is to uncheck "Always on Top" and "Lock Taskbar" then re-check them and it stops doing this, until I restart again.

Mike, are you using version 2.6 as well? If yes, do you use a custom shell or other desktop enhancement software?

Hi. Yes, I'm using v2.6.23.0. I'm not using any custom shell or desktop enhancement.

I have uploaded a test version of the UltraMon taskbar for further troubleshooting: UltraMonTaskbarTest.exe (this is for Windows 2000/XP or later only)
To run the test:
1) save UltraMonTaskbarTest.exe to a folder of your choice 2) close UltraMon 3) run UltraMonTaskbarTest.exe 4) hit WIN+D twice to minimize and restore open windows 5) right-click the UltraMon taskbar and select Close from the menu
Please send me the generated log file to support@realtimesoft.com or post it here.

Did the taskbar get hidden when you hit WIN+D?

Ok, the fix that I found for it where I have to uncheck "Always on Top" and "Lock Taskbar" then re-check them again, I did a little more testing and found that I don't have to uncheck "Lock Taskbar". It fixes this problem if I uncheck only "Always on Top", then re-check it again.

Oh yeah, when I tried the UltraMonTaskbarTest and followed your directions, the taskbar did not hide when I press Win+D. However, the problem goes away anyway when I uncheck then re-check "Always on Top" or when I close UltraMon and restart it.

Make sure you have installed patch #3 for UltraMon 2.6.
If your current installation isn't patched yet, that might explain the difference in behavior.

Ok, instlled the patch and so far the problem is fixed. However, I downloaded UltraMon from this website in September, but it says it's version 2.6.23.0.
The forum thread you linked me to says that there is already a v2.6.26.0? Where can I download that version? I would like to have it (or whatever the latest version is) as I may have to reformat my hard drive soon and would like to install the latest version of all my programs instead of installing an old version then patching.
Thanks.

Well, it was working 'cause I restarted UltraMon after copying the patch files to the UltraMon folder (didn't have to copy the files after all 'cause apparently, this installation that I downloaded in early September already has the patched files included) and the problem goes away after closing UltraMon and restarting it anyway.
So far these fix the problem:
uncheck then check Always on Top close UltraMon then restart it
The problem always comes back after restarting though.

Did you notice what causes the problem? For example you restart UltraMon, pressing WIN+D doesn't hide the taskbar, then you launch an application or do something else and afterwards pressing WIN+D hides the taskbar.
Please also let me know how many monitors you use.

I have two monitors, one LCD and one CRT. I do not know what causes the problem as it's just there whenever I startup my PC or restart it. The problem stop though if I:
uncheck then re-check "Always on top".
or
close UltraMon and restart it
once I've done either of those, the problem is gone until the next restart or power off, then power on of my PC.

Unfortunately I don't know what might cause this, looks like for some reason the UltraMon taskbar isn't actually 'always on top' after automatic startup.
You could try if delaying UltraMon startup fixes the problem.
To do this, run regedit.exe, select the key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon', double-click on the AutoStartDelay value, select Decimal, then enter the number of seconds by which automatic startup should be delayed. I would try a value of 20-30 seconds.
