If your looking for testers, I'll throw my hat in. Heck, I'll buy a copy :)

3.0 betas will be public, the first beta is currently under development.

Last question until beta release, any plans on moving notification area icons (next to the clock) to the proper window? Just curious, not really a needed feature.

Also will there be better screensaver support?
Christian Studer   2005-08-23 09:28
Would you want a system tray on each taskbar, with the icons sorted by the monitor the corresponding application is on?

Support for this will be considered for UltraMon 3, it won't be in Beta 1 though.

I'm also going to look into new screen saver features, but can't give any details at this time.

I, personally, don't use enough icons that are monitor-specific to make that a big priority. Having said that, it would be nice to have the ability to put the Tray on the second monitor and still have the Start button on the first.

That leads to another request, which might have been covered in another post: might Ultramon 3 be able to move Toolbars (like Quick Launch, Address Bar, Google Desktop) to other Smart Taskbars? That would be great!
Christian Studer   2005-08-26 06:40
UltraMon 3 will support toolbars, but not all third-party toolbars will be compatible with UltraMon.

I would like to throw in my feature request:
-A start bar on the Ultramon taskbar.
danmcg   2005-10-06 08:21
When you are mirroring your taskbar on both monitors, whichever taskbar you click your application on, that is the monitor that your app would open on.

Does that make sense?
Christian Studer   2005-10-06 08:33
Will be considered for UltraMon 3 (the Start menu as well), certainly won't be in Beta 1 though.

I this the focus must be the interface improvement abilities, not som funny abilities like screen saver adjustments etc.. because i think ultramon need great functions to improve user interface to show itself at new version...

I really like the smart taskbar feature.
What I would like is to have the start button, and toolbars (quicklaunch or truelaunchbar) on all monitors, with the start opening on the monitor it is clicked on.
Also, programs opened this way appearing on the monitor which they were opened on, not the primary monitor or the one which they were last opened on.

One thing that I would really love to see is wallpaper randomisation - Ultramon changing wallpapers automatically every x minutes.

Yeah yeah, I know it's not exactly high-tech cutting edge stuff, but osx does it as standard and I miss it on windows.
rob_f   2005-11-08 03:31
I would love to be able to go fullscreen, F11, on websites so that both monitors full capacity is used at times.
rob_f   2005-11-12 16:34
Would be great when going through favourites if, when you right click to open a website, if you had the option to open it on the other monitor.

I would really like it if Ultramon3 had an option to save and restore toolbars, the same way that it currently does with icons.

When I start a remote desktop connection, all my toolbars are moved back onto the primary display and 'restore icons' doesn't put them back. (I have them docked at the bottom of the secondary monitor screen)
Christian Studer   2006-02-20 21:59
You could do this with the Save/RestoreWndPos scripts.

Please note that only the position of always on top toolbars will be saved/restored.

Any word on a release date?
Christian Studer   2006-02-21 10:40
I don't have a release date yet for 3.0 Beta 1.

Will grouping be supported on all task bars in 3.0?
Christian Studer   2006-02-23 10:20
I haven't looked into that yet.

I would like to see a Task Manager link added to the context menu on all the task bars.

Hi, I use Ultramon and I love it but I do have one
very small wish. I noticed that Ultramon doesn't support embedded html desktop. I other word to use
a self-created Html document as wallpaper. I code
links and other things into a document for everyday
tasks and also format pictures and such for a more useful desktop. I would like Ultramon to support doing this so I could create similar backgrounds for all my monitors and be better organized. Please consider the ability to use html doc for future version. thanks.
Christian Studer   2006-03-22 10:33
Chris, currently I have no plans to add support for this, but you could easily add the pictures yourself to the HTML wallpaper, see the FAQ for more on HTML wallpapers.

I would also like to see the system tray to be movable to a secondary monitor. I know that I could make my external monitor my primary monitor but then when I lower the resolution on my laptop, it just puts a border around that area rather than using the full screen.

Since the tray/notification area application don't really belong to a monitor, I would imagine the whole thing would move as a group (like the Quick Launch toolbar) but either way would be fine.
Dave   2006-05-15 09:28
I found that the grouping issue was the only thing stopping me from purchasing Ultramon. At work I have a lot of open applications, I found myself having to use Alt+Tab a bit too much as I could not see the names of the buttons.

REQUEST!!!

Please make ultramon 3 compatible with WINDOWBLINDS 5 transparency tricks!
Kenny   2006-05-29 08:53
forgot to add that it would be good for the buttons on the title bar to be visable with windowblinds skins
Rod Neale   2006-05-31 20:14
Hi, i use 4 lcd screens but cannot seem to be able to set up the scrensave so that it would work indipenadanly on each screen based on usage... this means that if I spend a lot of time say working on 3 screens then I have the danger of burning the 4th one. Is it not possible to set it up so that the screen savers work "per usage per screen"
I can then work on any screen without worrying if I am burning another ?

Thanks for your reply.
Rod
Christian Studer   2006-06-01 11:17
Rod, that's not supported directly.

What you could do is run a screen saver manually on that monitor via the UltraMon Screen Saver Player add-on.
