My production environment uses Lotus Notes, YIM, and Symantec Client Security, with iTunes, Firefox, Acrobat, Excel and Word popping up occasionally. Since I started using UltraMon, I've found that as the day progresses, all of my applications get slower and slower, with pages in both Firefox and Lotus Notes taking longer and longer to draw. At its worst (after about a day of UltraMon uptime), the mouse will freeze while an application is trying to update a window. Killing UltraMon clears it up, and restarting UltraMon causes the delay to appear at a minimal "starting" slowness.
I've only used UltraMon for a little more than the trial period, but I'm finding the concept of living without it too difficult to bear. Any ideas what's going on here, or how I can fix it?

Unfortunately I don't know what would cause this.
Some issues with UltraMon and performance I'm aware of:
- scrolling in some applications might be a bit slower with UltraMon running. This seems to be an issue with Windows, this occurs if certain types of hooks are installed, even if the hooks don't do anything. You should notice this immediately though
- if you have a lot of open applications, popup menus and new windows might no longer appear. This happens if you have reached the maximum number of open windows, which happens a bit earlier if you have UltraMon running, due to the additional resources used by UltraMon. There is a workaround for this, see this thread for more information
If you have other background applications running, for example a video card utility, it might be worth a try to disable these applications temporarily with msconfig.exe and check if you still have the problem.

Actually, I've been doing some troubleshooting and I may have a lead. I was thinking it was Notes (which is pretty funky) but it doesn't seem to be.
Things seem to work ok if I minimize iTunes (for Windows XP). I've been leaving it open, maximized, on the secondary monitor, under some other small windows I work with. But I have noticed that, being a Mac port, it has some funny ways when it comes to windowing. I'm not sure it uses the standard windowing developer tools at all--for example, UltraMon doesn't put its stretch & switch icons on the window.
iTunes works fine alone, and UltraMon seems to as well--it's the combination of the two that seems like it's causing me problems.
I'll run like this for a while, and I'll follow up with my results.

I have a similar issue which occurs regardless of the number of apps running. When Ultramon has been running in dual monitor mode for several hours, the redraw rate on the primary monitor becomes very slow, whilst the secondary monitor is fine.
Changing the mode from dual to single monitor operation, then back to dual mode fixes the problem instantly. Is this a known issue / bug?

If you move the application from the primary to the secondary monitor, does it run normally again?

If I move the app from the primary to the secondary monitor, it works fine on the secondary. As soon as I return it to the primary monitor, it the redraw is slow again.

That sounds like a video card driver issue, most likely you'll have the same problem without UltraMon installed.
I would recommend installing the latest drivers for the video card.
