Ok, so I've recently decided to finally try this program out, but I've still got a couple questions. First off, is there any way that I can switch my mouse between monitors while playing a fullscreen game, such as a hotkey or something? I want it to be able to have instant messanger or sumthing on my second screen while my game is on the main one. That works fine, but do I still need to alt+tab to be able to use my IM?
This also brings up the next question. So I keep my buddy list on my second monitor to watch people come online, but when someone messages me, it minimizes my game and pops up on monitor 1. Is there some setting where I can have all windows from that program come up on my monitor 2?

Hi,
I have the exact same questions. Currently trying out ultramon 2.5.
Also wondering why the smart task bard doesn't work for me...

Moving the mouse out of a game is currently not supported, I'm going to look into this for UltraMon 3, but don't know yet if it is actually possible.
Setting a default monitor for popups is not supported, this wouldn't fix the problem though, the reason the game minimizes is because it loses focus to the popup. The only workaround would be to disable IM popups if possible.
Erik, what kind of problems do you have with the taskbar?

I think what Lewy(myself too) would like is the ability to have a focus in either screen. So that instead of having to alt+tab out of a fullscreen game to say, click a different track in Winamp on screen 2. You could have a hotkey, which would move your mouse controll from screen 1 to 2, and back again when pressed once more.
It would almost like what a KVM switch does but in reverse. Press the hotkey, and the mouse switches to screen 2. Press it again, you've got control of the game again. It would be brilliant :)

Dust has it exactly. Alot of times I like to listen to music and so I just run winamp on mon. 2 and I don't wanna minimize everytime to change tracks.
After looking around on different sites, I have been able to find "Window" applications for all my games which allows me to play the game in a window as if it were any other window, such as a Firefox window. And that allows me to scroll off the game unless it's first person shooter where the mouse is locked in center postion.
For Ultramon 3, you said you wanted to make this feture avalable. I think it's possible, but I'm not exactly sure how. If it's possible, try looking at the game script for Day of Defeat or Counter-Strike: Source. I've noticed that all I have to do is hit escape, which brings the game to the menu, and then it allows me to scroll over to my second monitor. I wonder if there is a way to tweak some settings to allow it to do this for all games.

Hey Christian
I'm currently using UltraMon and for some games such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Act of War, the mouse will move out of a game onto the secondary display if I scroll over to it.....so it's definitely possible, just need to learn to control it because unlike the other guys here I don't want it to happen. It's annoying when you're playing a game and scroll to the left only to have it scroll over to the other monitor. If I then click while the mouse is on the secondary monitor then it shifts focus to the desktop.
Not all games do this though, most of the games will restrict me from scrolling the mouse over to the secondary monitor when I'm in the game.
So my question is, any clue how I can disable the mouse scrolling to other monitors while in-game?

Nevermind, once again I should really read before posting. =)
I found out you can lock the mouse to the active window with UltraMon.

Lewy.
Something you can do to make your winamp usage a little easier is to set up winamp hotkeys. It's a feature in Winamp5.
That way you can navigate winamp with the help of suffle/no suffle and next/previous track etc.
Of course everyone can use those hotkeys, but only those with dual monitors can see the playlist while jumping around.

You can set the game to windowed mode..i know WoW has an option that maximizes a windowed mode w/o the bars or anything..allows me to scroll between both windows

Moving the mouse out of the game is not the issue. The issue is when you click on a window on the second monitor it minimizes the game. What I would like to see is the game remains maximized and active on the primary display. You mention it could be a feature of version 3, are you upto beta with it yet and what's the eta. I'm considering buying this product as it's still in trial, but i'm reluctant beacause of this issue.

At the moment I don't think it will be possible to prevent this, but I haven't yet taken a closer look at the issue.
