Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Secondary display won't keep its resolution

I have a ViewSonic projector as my secondary display. When trying to use mirroring (yes, I am running XP), I set my primary to 1280x1024 and the secondary to 800x600. When I start mirroring, the primary and secondary both display at the higher resolution of the primary.

I have a Nvidia MX440 dual-head card and an onboard Intel 82865G. I have tried all combinations: both on the dual-head and each on the onboard.

Please help.

Make sure you have configured the same display resolution settings for mirroring.

By default, the same resolution will be used for both monitors, but you can change this via UltraMon menu > Mirroring > Settings.

In the Morroring section they are set correctly...primary to 1280x1024 and the secondary to 800x600. This is what baffles me.

When mirroring is off, the secondary displays the correct resolution, when mirroring is started, it switches to match the primary, even though the settings above are correct.

For further troubleshooting, please send the system information from UltraMon's About dialog and the mirroring settings to support@realtimesoft.com.

The system information can be accessed via UltraMon menu > About.

To save the mirroring settings to a file, run regedit.exe, select the key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Mirroring', then select File\Export from the menu and save the settings to a .reg file.

Was this issue resolved? I am having the EXACT same problem.

My second monitor is a TV on an S-video output. I am running a Radeon X300 SE.

Please note that UltraMon mirroring will always show the whole monitor.

For example if mirroring is configured to use 1280x1024 for the primary monitor, and 1024x768 for the secondary, the mirror image on the secondary will show the same image as the primary monitor, just scaled down. It will not show only part of the primary monitor.

If that's not the problem: please run Windows Display Properties when mirroring is running, and check if each monitor is using the correct display resolution as configured under mirroring settings.
