Am testing the beta version to see if it will overcome some of the issues that I've been having with but still seem to be running up against it.
The main problem I have is that some dialogue boxes open on a monitor different from the monitor that the application is on. This is particularly a problem with Word - I have shortcutted it to open on my external monitor (2) but when I go to open a file or save a file the dialogue box opens on monitor 1 (my tablet screen). If I move the dialogue box across to monitor 2, it loses most of its functionality. Conversely, if I leave, say, the open doc dialogue box where it is on the tablet screen it is fine and opens the document to the external monitor where the Word application itself resides.
I also can't shift the windows taskbar to monitor 2 as per the thread I've seen elsewhere in this forum and couldn't shift the smart taskbar either from monitor 1 to monitor 2.
I have a sneaking suspciion that these problems all relate to the fact that I can't set monitor 2 (the external monitor) to be the primary monitor (something to do with the XP version that tablet PCs run I think. Any other ideas?
Cheers

UltraMon currently doesn't support dialog positioning, this would need to be handled by the application (works fine with Word 2003, maybe just an issue with the version of Word you are using).
Moving the taskbars should work fine, make sure they aren't locked.
Having the external monitor as primary would fix the problem with Word, but both the Windows and UltraMon taskbars should have no problem with either setup.
Changing the primary monitor is most likely prevented by the video chipset driver, not the operating system. For example ATI and Intel drivers for laptop video chipsets usually prevent changing the primary monitor.

Thanks Christian. I worked out why I couldn't shift the taskbars and thought other newbies might be interested - I have the two screens set to different resolutions so in order to move the mouse pointer (and therefore drag anything from 1 screen to another) I need to go up the side of the high resolution screen until I come to the place where the other screen's resolution means that that screen "starts". One can see this graphically in the display settings where one can shift the monitors around, since, by changing the resolution, one can see that the different screens line up/don't line up.
You may be right re my version of Word - I'm still on 2000 - I hate having to upgrade for no reason but this may be one ;-( I'll check with HP re the drivers also.
Thanks for your help - its a great product (which I'll now buy!)
