I have 4 monitors setup like a square (2x2). I downloaded 2 backgrounds that each span 2 monitors horizontally. Is it possible to set these backgrounds with the setup I have. In other words, I want the first baskground spanning the 2 lower monitors and the second spanning the 2 upper monitors. I can get it so that either of the two backgrounds span all the monitors or just one of the monitors (but not 2). Is what I want possible. Thanks.

UltraMon doesn't support this directly, you would need to cut the images in half and then assign each part to a monitor, or combine the two images and assign the combined image to the desktop.
