Hi great program but I have one big problem: basically what I want ultramon to do is switching monitors. I got two, one TFT and one CRT. I use the CRT only for gaming so I if I feel the need to I want to switch to the CRT and put the TFT on standby. This works perfectly by creating the according display profiles BUT only on the admin account. On all of my non admin accounts using the ultramon icon on the taskbar-> display profiles-> CRT doesn't work. He does something and then quits ultramon. If I create short cuts of these display profiles on the desktop will get it to work but only after doing an installation of some sort *he says something about installing and configuring ultramon*. I am sure it's all about registry settings so could you please tell me how to get it also to work for the non admin accounts?? thanx in advance

This should work fine, my guess would be that there is some problem with your UltraMon installation.
I would recommend uninstalling UltraMon, rebooting the system, then installing it again.
Make sure the 'install for all users' option is selected during setup (this is the default), and that you are logged in as administrator for doing the installation.

Hi thanx for your quick response. I did what you said but it's not working. It seems to be a really strange problem because the shortcuts you can create when defining a display property work - well only with this installation thing firing up (for the this installation procedure which only takes 2 seconds btw. he even makes an extra temp folder in the root of the hardrive where ultramon is installed). I don't get it. I checked security policies but couldn't find anything that could be related to this prob. For some reason it seems only the admin account has access to the orignial installation (why else is he trying to install and configure it)although this folder has now full control for everyone.Also... why do only the shortcuts on the desktop trigger this installation behaviour with the eventual desired effect of switching the screens and not klicking on the display setting via the small taksbar icon (doing this results in ultramon quitting). Is this really only me?? I just have a normal xp pro installation with one extra guest and one limited account.

PS.: btw. the ati option of using different display settings doesn't even consider to do the simple task I want it to do :-) - well it actually does do something but doesn't adjust the different monitor settings like resolution and refresh.

I just scanned the registry for ultramon and saw that only the admin and system have permissions for these entries. I added everyone and user in all the entries BUT it still doesn't work. After reboot and logging onto a limited account windows installer popped up and did the install thing even without klicking the shortcuts - the regedit change certainly did something I suppose :-)
any further suggestions??

Did you check the permissions for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\umprofilefile? From your description, it looks like you did a per-user installation for the admin account. With an installation for all users, the Users group would have read access to this registry key as well.
For further troubleshooting, you could do a logged install and send me the log file to support@realtimesoft.com. You'll need to uninstall UltraMon, reboot, then do a logged install as described here.
