I have had two monitors working sice win98 came out with different cards. Currently Diamond Fire pro1000(AGP) with 17" monitor on primary and SIS 6326(PCI) on secondary monitor, an Old IBM G40. Problem is I cannot set the secondary res to anything but 800 x 600 or it goes black. Primary is et to 1024 X 768. I can change the primary res with no problem. Both adapters are set to default and monitors to plug and play. I had this same problem on another system with different cards and the only common factor the Fire AGP as primary!! Any suggestions or help is appreciated....Dale

I use an AGP Fire GL 1000 Pro as primary myself, no problems setting secondary monitors to other resolutions... try using the latest Permedia 2 reference drivers from 3Dlabs, I think it is version 21050366.

Tried the driver from 3d Labs and while it did improve performance on the primary unfortunately it did not solve not beeing able to go above 800 x 600 on the secondary without going black. I can go less but not more. The card is an sis 6326 with 4 megs ram and should easily handle the mode. Still looking for a solution. Thanks for your suggestion and it did improve primary vid so that was woth something....Dale

Does the Secondary card and monitor work alright on their own? It could be a refresh rate problem. Try getting a proper driver specific to that monitor.

I do believe that may be a big part of it. The secondary monitor is and old IBM G40. The two options on refresh are default and optimal as was the primary till I used the 3dlabs driver. I am searching for a G40 inf file. I had one once but have misplaced it and the search is on once again. Sounds like a good possibility especially since things get confused as to where they belong sometimes. I can live with 800 x 600 on the small monitor but little bugs just begged to be solved. Thanks for the reply...Dale

Problem solved. It was indeed a problem with refresh. 800 x 600 was the best possible on the G40. Thanks to all who replied and helped!!..Dale
