I've looked though the program as well as the features list but couldn't find an option to open things in the monitor w/ the mouse. Right now, if I got to monitor2 > right-click desktop > properties, display properties will show up in monitor1. same deal when opening shortcuts/files that are in monitor2.
i know i can customize the shortcuts, but it'd be easier if there were defaults in the config menu like "open all windows to monitor with mouse"
sorry in advance if this feature is already available.

Thanks for the suggestion, this is being considered for UltraMon 3.
You can already do this on a per-shortcut basis, but not for all applications.
