I have 2 monitors (a 21" primary and 19" secondary). I have a hotkey to disable my second monitor and turn off the extended desktop (so it doesnt use my graphics card when I'm gaming). Anyway, all of a sudden today the monitor wont go off properly. I press my hotkey to turn it off and it flicks off, then every 5 seconds or so the monitor's light goes from orange (standby) to green (on) for about a second and no picture pops up. It then goes back into standby, and repeats the process.
Does anyone know anything that could help as I don't think it's good for the monitor to be constantly flicking back on every 5 seconds?

Did you change video drivers? I've noticed different 'monitor disabled' behavior with different versions of Nvidia drivers, but don't know why the monitor would switch between standby and on.

I havent changed drivers too recently (maybe 3 weeks ago?). I have an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro.
It managed to stop of its own accord last night, but I got home from work today and it started again when I turned on my computer.

I've also had this problem with the latest release. Instead of going to flashing amber, which is off, my secondary monitor will maintain the same status as if it were on, bright green. The second monitor just isn't turning off properly because if I try to run something that is full screen games for example the second monitor just displays corrupt garbage.

What video card(s), display driver version and operating system are you using?

That's most likely a display driver issue, try if you have the same problem when disabling the monitor using Windows Display Properties (uncheck 'Extend my Windows desktop...').
For me it worked fine with Windows XP Pro SP1, ATI RADEON 9000, Catalyst 3.10 drivers. The secondary monitor went to standby after disabling it with UltraMon or Windows Display Properties.

I experience the same problem, that is when I switched from 2 to 1 monitor (primary = off, secondary = primary), the monitor that is supposed to go off is still active.
Note that I solved the problem by going back to cat 3.9 from 3.10
Config: WinXP ATI 9800

maybe not for everyone but I found the problem with my system and this. I use object dock and it keeps the secondary monitor from disabling on my system. if I disable the sec. with OD running the sec. monitor doesn't shut off but if I then close OD the sec. then changes to off mode.

I just upgraded to Cat 4.1 and Ultramon 2.4 and the problem persists.
Is there anything that can be done with Ultramon to overcome the problem in the drivers?
Thanks

As far as I can tell there's nothing UltraMon can do about this, would need to be fixed in the drivers.
