For the past year I’ve mostly relied on flat barbell bench and some random machine work at the end, but progress has been slow lately. I train chest twice a week and push pretty hard, but I feel like I might not be choosing the best combination of exercises for overall mass. If you had to narrow it down to five movements that really made a difference for your chest size, what would they be? I’m open to adjusting my routine if it means better long-term growth.

For pure mass, I’d keep it simple and focus on movements you can progressively overload. My personal top five would be flat barbell bench, incline dumbbell press, weighted dips, machine chest press, and cable flyes for controlled stretch work. When I started prioritizing incline work, my upper chest finally filled out. I also slowed down my reps and focused on full range instead of just moving weight. I’ve read a few training and recovery discussions on https://wellsfargocenterarts.org/ while browsing broader performance topics, and even saw debates about oral steroids online, but honestly most of the gains I’ve seen came from dialing in form and consistency. Heavy compounds first, controlled isolation after — that balance worked best for me.

It’s always cool to see how different routines shape results over time. Small adjustments in technique or exercise order can completely change how a workout feels. Tracking progress and staying patient usually ends up being more important than constantly switching things around.
