I work for a car dealership and we are looking to setup a dual monitor system so that parts customers can follow along with our parts people when looking at a parts application we have on our network. We want to set it up so that the customer monitor will mirror the parts monitor when using the parts application, BUT this computer will also be used as a workstation so when the user is checking his email, using MS word etc. we don't want that showing up on the customer monitor. Using Ultramon, can we switch from mirroring, to having separate desktops relatively easily...or is that something that takes a bit of work to do?

I guess you would want the second monitor disabled when not mirroring?

You could do this easily with a script which toggles mirroring and the second monitor on or off. I can send you a sample script if you like.

Keep in mind that UltraMon mirroring can't mirror 3D and video, and has some overhead when doing mirroring. You should check if mirroring works with your parts application.

Yes that would work as well. The parts app is just a 2D app and it doesn't have any video incorporated with it. That script does sound interesting though...if you could email that to me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I just set up UltraMon so that a double-click on the tray icon disables the second monitor, and set up a hotkey. Works great! (right-click UltraMon tray icon, choose Options >> Customization tab >> Double-clicking ... drop down.)
