Ultramon has been working great since I last installed it, about 6 months now. I've been using its ability to have separate wallpapers for each display. A few weeks ago, I tried changing the wallpapers, and discovered that none of the changes I made in Ultramon were showing. My wallpaper was stuck at whatever color the XP theme or style had chosen. I can still change it in desktop properties though, but then I get the single image for both displays. I've tried reinstalling Ultramon but that didn't get the wallpaper function back.

Please try the following: in the UltraMon wallpaper manager, select the Default wallpaper and click on Apply.
Then open Display Properties, and take a look at the Desktop tab. Is the Default wallpaper selected as your desktop background?
Also check if you installed a wallpaper manager like Webshots, or a virtual desktop manager which supports different wallpapers for each desktop (MultiDesk, nView).

When I select the Default wallpaper from Ultramon, my wallpaper goes to the default color from the style, in this case a light gray.
There's no "Default" wallpaper listed in Display properites. It is set to (None).
nView is installed with the nVidia drivers, but I have it disabled.

What happens if you manually select the wallpaper bitmap generated by UltraMon?
To do this, open Display Properties, select the Desktop tab and click on Browse. Go to My Documents\My Wallpapers and select the Default.bmp wallpaper.
After selecting the wallpaper, set Position to Tile and hit Apply.

If I select the Ultramon wallpapers in the Windows display applet, then the wallapaper that should be spread across both monitors is shrunk onto each display. I get both images on each monitor.

Unfortunately I have no idea what would cause this, selecting the wallpaper in Display Properties with position set to Tile should always work.
Windows handles the display of the wallpaper, UltraMon generates the wallpaper bitmap based on your settings.

Ah, I didn't have it set to Tile. Is the standard procedure to make the wallpaper in Ultramon, then go to Windows Display properties and select it? I thought it worked all from Ultramon before.
If I have the default paper from Ultramon selected and displayed properly, then go back to Ultramon and change it in some way, when I hit Apply I end up with the boring theme default wallpaper. Then I have to go back to Display properties, select the Ultramon again, and be sure to hit Tile. I remember being lazier.

UltraMon should apply the wallpaper itself, but this seems to fail for some reason.
I have uploaded a little application which tests applying the Default wallpaper and writes the results to a log file: TestWpApply.zip.
Before running the test application, open Display Properties and select (None) as your wallpaper.
Please send the log file created by TestWpApply.exe to support@realtimesoft.com.

I seem to be having the same problem, I tired everything that you mentioned above with the same results as Dave. I was wondering if you ever figured out how to fix it?
I'm not too sure what happened, I think my computer crashed in some way and when it restarted there was no wallpaper. I can chose a wallpaper from the display properties window, but after I try to apply a new wallpaper from ultramon, my screen goes to my plain background colour. And in the display properties window, it is set to none again. I tried looking for this Default.bmp in my documents/wallpapers, but there was none. Also there doesn't seem to be a Default wallpaper in ultramon, I must have deleted it or something.
Any help would be apprecaited, Allan

The problem was that applying the wallpaper failed, unfortunately we didn't find out why. Dave wanted to reinstall Windows anyway so we didn't do any further troubleshooting.
Deleting the Default wallpaper doesn't cause any problems, if you have no other wallpaper listed in UltraMon just click on 'New wallpaper' to create a new one.
If you have applied the wallpaper but the desktop is still using the default background color: try if manually selecting the UltraMon wallpaper in Display Properties works. Make sure Position is set to Tile.

Yeah I guess that works, I just wish there was a way to get it working again without having to reinstall windows... Oh well thanks for trying.

Just an update... I have no idea what happened, but it seems to be working again. It's strange, it didn't work for a couple of days so I stopped using the wallpaper function altogether. But just today I decided to give it another shot, and it seems to have fixed itself... Beats me but I'm happy :)

Does the preview of the Default wallpaper look as it should?
