Hi, I'm running XP Pro SP1, and a matrox G450 dualhead. The wallpaper does not appear after a reboot. It will only show after going into the UltraMon control panel and re-selecting it. Any ideas?

Please check if the wallpaper bitmap generated by UltraMon is selected as the desktop wallpaper in Display Properties > Desktop.
The bitmap has the same name as the UltraMon wallpaper, for example Default.bmp.

The ultramon default wallpaper is selected, but it is still coming up with no wallpaper on startup.

Maybe the wallpaper bitmap is just your background color, without images. You can check this by taking a look at Default.bmp in My Documents\My Wallpapers.
This could happen if the wallpaper uses images that are on a network share. UltraMon refreshes the wallpaper during startup if necessary, if the share isn't available at this time you would get a wallpaper bitmap without images.

I Have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS WELL ! NO matter which drivers (although using the latest). Wallpaper GONE after reboot. have to manually set it up.... :(

Can you change this to check if the share is available and use the existing image if the share is not yet available rather than updating to a blank image (probably never the right choice)?

The only real solution would be to cache the source images locally, otherwise it won't be possible to update the wallpaper if the display configuration is changed.
I would suggest to either disable automatic wallpaper updating under Wallpaper > Options, or to cache the source images manually using the offline files feature in Windows 2000/XP (allows you to use network paths even if the network is disconnected).
BTW, the problem mentioned by the other posters was related to the G450, unfortunately we never found out what caused it.

I'll consider adding a caching option in a future release, might be useful for people with laptops who have stored images on a desktop.

I still seem to be having this happen after I manually cached my wallpaper to my C: drive.
I am using a Matrox G450 dualhead.
On reboot, the wallpaper isn't shown and I get a blue desktop, even after logon. Forcing an Apply in the Wallpaper... dialog fixing the issue.

If you open UltraMon menu > Wallpaper after rebooting, is your wallpaper the active wallpaper, or is (None) selected in the wallpaper list?
If your wallpaper isn't selected, most likely some other application has changed the wallpaper, for example a virtual desktop manager or Webshots.

My wallpaper is show as the current wallpaper, and the preview shows the two pictures that make up the wallpaper.

Please check if the wallpaper bitmap generated by UltraMon is blank (desktop background color only instead of images).
To do this, go to My Documents\My Wallpapers and take a look at <wallpaper name>.bmp.

It isn't blank, but perhaps my problem is not the G450 issue.
I have My Documents set to a network drive.
Can you change Ultramon to allow me to configure a C: drive location for the wallpapers it creates?
My Documents is on a network drive because that is backed up every night by our enterprise backup system.
Meanwhile I have manually copied it to my C:\WinXP folder and set the Desktop to point to that copy.

The location of the wallpaper folders can be changed in the registry, see Configuration: advanced registry settings for details.
